Summer 2010 at Zion!

This summer Zion is presenting young people with a really great selection of opportunities and projects that they can get involved with. These projecst will be running alongside our regular classes which can be found on our What's On page.

- Write, Rehearse and Perform with Skylark Theatre Company

August 16th-27th, Monday-Friday 10am-3pm
Suitable for ages 12-25

Zion and Skylark Theatre Company are looking for the next generation of imaginative and talented playrwrights and performers to produce a new piece of theatre.

- Fashion Forward

August 2nd-7th, Monday-Friday 12.30-4.30pm

Suitable for ages 13-19

The young people of Zion will be taking to the runway to show off Zion;s first young designer collection of clothing. Zion needs 24 young people to design, create, photographh and model our fabulous fashion collection for Zion's runway.

- Switched TV - Manchester

July 26th-August 20th, Monday-Friday 10am-3:30am

Suitable for ages 13-19

Do you have a burning desire to work in TV and media? Zion is looking for 13 young people from Hulme and Harpurhey and surrounding areas to make the next cutting edge television series of 2010 as young people from the north and south of Manchester trade places. Sign up as a director, producer, cameraman or any number of other positions!

- Fun Fridays

Every Friday from July 23rd-August 27th, 1-2.30pm

Suitable for ages 6-13

Each Friday Zion Arts Centre will be offering a different creative arts activity for you to come along and get stuck in with! Activities will include animation, illustration, comic book art, t-shirt printing, sculpture and much much more!

Creative Hands Foundation will be hosting an exiting exhibition of creative arts from many cultures from the 7th to the 28th of August at Zion Arts Centre. The preview night will take place on the 7th with african drumming food and fashion!
Artist Call Out
For the exhibition Creative Hands Foundation are seeking local artists that live or work in South Manchester to submit their work for the exhibition.

Come and 'Bus de Place' with Zion Arts and CCOM for Carnival 2010

Once again Zion has linked up with CCOM to offer an artistic explosion on the carnival's second day with a variety of young people performing. Auditions for performing places will take place on July 31st at Zion Arts Centre from 1-5pm. Any art form is welcome to come and audition.The performance will kick off on July 15th, Alexandra Park Moss Side so come down and join in the carnival!

Act Up North - Acting Classes

These exciting adult acting classes will be coming to Zion this week and running every Wednesday from 7-9pm. These screen acting classes will run over 4 week modules and will deal with a range of subjects and allow the students to work on and off camera. Zion is relaunching the Youth Forum. It’s your chance to influence what happens at Zion, shadow artists, staff and even join the Board of Management, Learn how to run a venue, create a show, run a project from start to finish with the support of the professionals. The Youth Forum will be whatever you make it! Next Meeting tbc...

Also join our Youth Membership Scheme if you haven't already done so! To attend our workshops or use our youth hire scheme just fill out a form at front desk and register yourself for our membership card! This will give you Zion priveleges and could even enter you for exciting competitions!
