In a Nutshell...

comic club rollsOur Education program delivers a variety of creative arts opportunities for young people of all ages across Manchester. We aim to increase young peoples' participation in and access to the arts equipping them with the skills and experiences that can lead to careers in the creative industries. Whether programming Arts Weeks or Black History activities for schools, delivering exciting After School projects, offering training and advice for teachers or one off career workshops like Behind the Scenes, Zion has something creative to bring to you and your pupils.

We believe...

Young people taking part in the arts acquire new artistic skills, grow in self esteem and confidence and unearth talents they didn't know they had. There are many educational benefits to creative learning; our projects are fresh and innovative encouraging different ways of thinking and learning through exploring, imagining and above all having a go!

All young people can gain something positive through participating in the arts. The experimental and inclusive approaches have the potential to enrich traditional school topics and teaching and can really benefit children who may learn more aptly through an alternative method to academic traditions.

How are our projects relevant to the curriculum?

Zion doesn't do packages or one size fits all projects. We pride ourselves on working closely with teachers to create individual and unconventional projects of both artistic and educational merit. Each project is tailored to your needs and can fit in with the themes and topics you are covering on the school syllabus. So far our work has been in line with agendas such as Every Child Matters, Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning, Extended Schools, Pupils Attitude to Self & School, Sustainable Schools and Behaviour and Inclusion. Take a look at some of our projects on the left.

Where & When?

Zion Arts can facilitate workshops both in and out of school time and on and off school grounds, sending artists out to you or running activities from our centre. We have access to a vast array of artists and can source practitioners for almost any discipline. We have found that there is an added thrill for the young people who come to our building and use our facilities and that having the opportunity to learn in a professional Theatre, Dance or Gallery space really enhances their experience.
