Extended Schools: Creativity in the Community

For the past two years Zion Arts Centre has been delivering exciting after school creative projects to young people across Manchester as part of the Extended Schools agenda. Hundreds of young people have had the opportunity to work on dynamic projects with an array of professional artists from Manchester and beyond; exploring their own creativity, ideas and boundaries through participation in fresh new artistic forms.
Whether music, dance, drama, visual arts or multimedia our Extended School projects offer something fresh, innovative and importantly relevant to schools. Pupils get the chance to try something creative they have never done before and that they wouldnʼt normally be able to experience in school. We pride ourselves on working closely with teachers to create individual and unconventional projects of both artistic and educational merit. Our work can complement themes and topics you are covering on the school syllabus or just for the artistic fun. So far our work has been in line with agendas & areas such as Every Child Matters, Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning, Diversity & Inclusion, Literacy, Pupils Attitude to Self & School, Sustainable Schools and Behaviour and Inclusion. Sessions can happen from our venue or we can send artists out to your school - direct to your classroom!
Creativity for Everyone ...
Extended Schools allows us to meet with Teachers and Parents and introduce them to our other programmes of work that they can access such as teacher training, family learning activities and adult education courses.
